ThinkHumanTV

Developed by cognitive scientists at Columbia University, ThinkHumanTV is an adaptive learning engine that integrates evidence-based emotional literacy training with films and TV shows. ThinkHumanTV is available for students in PreK-3rd grade via the Humie web and mobile app, which features a variety of high quality, popular kids' shows like ‘Bluey' and ‘The Octonauts’. It is also available for learners in grades 4-12 using a browser extension, which integrates with major streaming sites.

  • Use of AI: Think HumanTV has taken a purposeful approach to AI. To prioritize child safety, they use exclusively safe, algorithmic software when interfacing with learners. Given the platform’s fundamentally human focus -- emotion learning -- they rely exclusively on human analysis and review in their content preparation process. They leverage generative AI capabilities to help streamline rote admin tasks like inputing characters that appear in a given show.

High School pilots: 9 schools including Fordham HS for the Arts (NYC) Participants: 10+ educators, over 100 students in grades 9-12 Outcomes: - Over 98% reported using TV and films for emotion learning was enjoyable - Over 90% reported improved understanding of emotions - Nearly 75% reported increased confidence managing emotions.
