Sown To Grow
Sown To Grow (STG) partners with schools to help every student feel seen, supported, and able to learn at their best. Each week, students check-in and are invited to reflect on their mental, physical, and academic health. School leaders gain real-time MTSS insights into student well-being to proactively identify and support student needs. It's a preventative approach that anchors on belonging, and is proven to increase student connection and attendance!

- Use of AI: Sown To Grow uses AI to enhance the capacity of educators to understand and support relationships with students, while giving human educators full control over content shown to students. Examples include response suggestions for teachers to aid in addressing student reflections, and alerts + MTSS group suggestions that flag student reflections with concerning language in different support areas. Both features are presented as suggestions for educators to opt into, among other safety guardrails.

- Privacy & security: Sown To Grow is COPPA, FERPA, & NIST compliant, and meets the highest “Optimizing” standard for all relevant Project Unicorn interoperability conditions. - Crisis protocols: Sown To Grow’s reflection alert system identifies student responses that indicate higher mental, physical, or social distress. STG’s natural language processing AI flags reflections & notifies the student’s teacher & designated school admins. Trained mental health professionals review ambiguous reflections before alerting school staff. Sown To Grow highlights student MTSS insights to inform responsive care & strong implementation. Reporting includes usage (# of student reflections, teacher response %, reflection alerts # & addressed %, etc.) and support (school average well-being trends, student-teacher relationship insights, students with persistent sadness/low belonging, etc.).

- Language accessibility: Sown To Grow’s full student digital experience is dynamically translated to Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Somali, and Portuguese, with additional languages in development. Additionally, Sown To Grow’s K-5 SEL curriculum is available in Spanish.
